About Wendy

What is a Doula?

A doula is professionally trained and experienced in supporting women during the labor and birth process.  She provides evidence-based information during the pregnancy, and continuous, physical, and emotional support during labor, birth and the immediate postpartum experience.

What is a Montrice?

In addition to doula skills, a montrice also has education and training in providing limited midwifery skills during healthy, normal labors.  These skills may include monitoring mother's vital signs, fetal heart rate of baby, and assessing cervical dilation.  This is helpful for healthy mothers who wish to labor at home as long as possible.
